About the Book:

Rural switchboard operator Georgie Gail is proud of her independence in a man's world . . . which makes it twice as vexing when the telephone company sends a man to look over her shoulder. Dashing Luke Palmer is more than he appears though. He's a Texas Ranger working undercover to infiltrate a notorious gang of train robbers. Repairing telephones and tangling with this tempestuous woman is the last thing he wants to do. But when his stakeout puts Georgie in peril, he realizes more than his job is on the line.
That is the  official blurb....  Georgie is a cheeky spirited young woman who knows what she believes in and sets out to prove it everyday.  From saving the birds to finding love she tries to do it all in this jam packed story.  From break-in's to bird shoot outs to train robberies this book has it all from the not so distant of our history.

My Take:
This is another fun fast read from Deeanne Gist.  If you loved her other books I'm sure you'll find this one just as fun.  I am really starting to love historical fiction...especially of this era.  This journey from the viewpoint of a telephone operator was another new one for me.  I really liked 'learning' while reading about the wild west and more of the struggles that happened during that time.  I really like the fact that this author tells us where she researched and what parts were based on real life and which were just plain fiction!  While this is classified as Christian fiction...not alot about church or religion...just a view into the life of a Christian woman.   The only thing I really had trouble with was the suspense...I had it figured out from pretty much the first 1/3 of the book...but the writing and background story kept me involved enough to not put it down!   I thought this was a good read for a breezy autumn day...

About the Author:
Deeanne Gist--known to her family, friends, and fans as Dee--has rocketed up the bestseller lists and captured readers everywhere with her very original, very fun historical & contemporary romances. Add to this three RITA nominations, two consecutive Christy Awards, rave reviews, and a growing loyal fan base, and you've got one recipe for success.

I was given this book to review by Bethany House and Litfuse.  No  other compensation was given and only a fair review was required!
