COEXIST {BOOK REVIEW}

Title:  Coexist (Keegan's Chronicles #1)
Author:  Julia Crane
Publisher:  Valknut Press
Available:  Now
Source:  author

Genre:  YA paranormal

About the book:
Elves have been long misunderstood.  They are not the
tiny magical Santa's helpers as we have all been led to
believe.  They actually have descended from Ireland and stand
about 4'9" to 5'2" and are more prone to have red hair.
They live in harmony with humans and other magical creatures but
in secret.  Keegan is sixteen and trying to get all she can out
of her teenage years before meeting her predetermined mate at
the age of 18.  However, her brother, Thaddeus has seen the
not so distant future and knows she may not make it to that
meeting.  So...Rourk finds himself learning his mate is Keegan and
is now trying to guard her.  They dark and light elves have
been in constant friction for a long time and a war is on the horizon.
Can Rourk and Keegan actually fulfill the roles that have been
laid out before them?

My take:
The story was a quick fun read that dives into the elfin society.  It is
less than 160 pages and kept the suspense up throughout the whole book.
I do wish that I could have experienced some parts of the book rather
than being told about it...maybe more dialogue between characters or
even internal dialogue.  I loved the fact that the main character wasn't
a misunderstood teen, but a teen with friends and boys and was loving
her life.  There were some minor characters that we didn't really learn
too much about and not sure if that was intentional because this is a series
or if they just weren't developed enough.  However, I still loved
reading about the elfin society and trying to figure out if any of my friends
and family are maybe not all human!  Julia Crane knows how to weave a
story and keep it going til the end...well...okay...she keeps it
going through the end as we are left with an unpredictable twist that
leaves a reader needing the next book!  It is a very fun clean read
that I would recommend for all ages, it was clean enough for
middle grades to read.

About the author:
Julia crane is the author of the Coexist: Keegan’s Chronicles. She has a bachelors degree in criminal justice. Julia has believed in magical creatures since the day her grandmother first told her an Irish tale. Growing up her mother greatly encouraged reading and using your imagination. Although she’s spent most of her life on the US east coast, she currently lives in Dubai with her husband and three children.

I received a copy for review from the author for my honest opinion.  A good review was not required!
