My Take:
Take a fairy tale and move it too another not so distant future and add the newest technologies and you have an awesome new bedtime story for young adults! Now..for the nuts and bolts of this review if you pardon the pun! The actual Cinderella story is played out in almost subtle ways sometimes and pretty obvious at other times. Don't go in reading thinking you know the answers to the timeline, things just might fool you. I think Ms. Meyer did an awesome job of combing science fiction and romance and whimsy and reality into a thought provoking but fun read! I really wouldn't suggest this for kids much younger than 12 because of the disease and a few scenes with death and dying and war and peace..but it is a very clean read.
Recommendation: Buy it as soon as it comes out...it will be a hot seller in January I think!
About the Author:
Cinder is Marissa Meyer's Debut book and this is book 1 of a 4 part series. She lives in Tacoma, Washington, with her fiancé and two cats. In addition to her slight obsession with books and writing, she's big on road-tripping, wine-tasting, and hunting for antiques.
I saw this in the bookstore earlier today and I thought about buying it, but I decided not to. Might have to give it another look sometime.
