I am a new GFC follower. I cannot think of a great Christmas story from my own life. But I can tell you that my son was born on December 27. I went into labor Christmas evening after 11 pm. I always thought how kind it was of him to wait until after Christmas. :)

To be really honest with you I don't have any good Christmas stories to retell. My dad died on Christmas morning when I was 8 and I frankly can't remember any before that. When I grew up though I did have good Christmas memories with my own kids.

I remember xmas eve at Grandmas house and eating shrimp and blintzes!
I follow via GFC as jewelknits!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite holiday memories is going to bed on Christmas Eve right after my mom separated from her husband and we had just moved into a teeny tiny space ... we had no Christmas tree, no lights, no presents. When we woke up, however, (and I still have the picture Mom took of this), we came down to a LOT of presents, a tree, lights .. it was magical. The best part about it was our surprise. After I grew up, I found out that my mom really HAD nothing to give us for Christmas. Her husband was abusive, and she had been lucky to get out of the house, period. She left with little money, and a low-wage job and four kids. Her friends had come on Christmas Eve with the tree and presents and Christmas food ... all a surprise to her as well. She cried when she told me about it, so I can only imagination how she reacted that Christmas Eve.
